Nairobi
Five days in Kenya (Lake Naivasha and Maasai Mara) and 5 days in Tanzania (Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro and Manyara). This tour transfers from Maasai Mara to Serengeti through the ‘Isebania Border’ then back to Kenya’s Amboseli national park for two nights.
Day 1 : Nairobi – Lake Nakuru
Enjoy an early breakfast and the check-out, drive to Nakuru National Park through the rift valley which stretches from Egypt to Mozambique and is estimated to be about 9,600 Km long, you will have a brief stop to view the valley, descend in to the valley and continue driving on the floor of the valley to arrive in Lake Nakuru in time for lunch at Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge. Enjoy an evening safari from 1600 hours at the Nakuru National park which is a Beautiful wildlife Haven with about 56 different mammal species including the rare Black and white Rhinos and 450 different birds species including Lesser and Greater Flamingoes. Lake Nakuru is surrounded by wooded and bushy grassland, Visitors can enjoy the wide ecological diversity and varied habitats that range from Lake Nakuru itself to the surrounding escarpment and picturesque ridges. It also has a Unique vegetation of about 550 different plant species including the unique and biggest euphorbia forest in Africa, Picturesque landscape and yellow acacia woodlands. Day 2 : Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara Game Reserve
Check out after breakfast and drive to the famous Masai mara national reserve ton arrive in time for lunch at Ilkeriani Mara Camp,enjoy an evening safari at the reserve also referred to as the seventh wonder of the world due to the world’s famous migration of the wildebeests that take place annually from July to October, Masai mara is vast savannah grassland of 1510 sq. km and no matter where you drive you are likely to see animals, It is also home to the big five animals, Cheetahs, Zebras, Giraffes, Topis, Gazelles, Common Elands, Waterbucks among other animals. Full board accommodation at Ilkeliani Mara Camp.
Day 3: Masai Mara
This day is spent exploring the reserve with a full day game drive. Masai Mara National Reserve is contiguous with the Serengeti National Park in Mara Region, Tanzania. It is named in honor of the Masai people (the ancestral inhabitants of the area) and their description of the area when looked at from afar: “Mara” which is Maa ( Masai language) for “spotted” an apt description for the circles of trees, scrub, savanna, and cloud shadows that mark the area.
It is globally famous for its exceptional population of Masai Giraffes, lions, Gazelles, African leopards, elephants and cheetahs, and the annual migration of zebra and wildebeest to and from the Serengeti every year from July to October, known as the Great Migration Full board accommodation at Ilkeliani Mara Camp.
Day 4: Masai Mara Game Reserve
This day is spent exploring the reserve with a full day game drive in the reserve,meals and accommodation at Ilkeliani Mara Camp.
Day 5: Masai Mara – Serengeti
You wake up to a morning breakfast and then check out, view animals until you exit the park and then drive to the Kenya – Tanzania border of Isebania where you will go through the immigration and enter Tanzania, enter Tanzania and continue driving with a stopover for lunch and then arrive in Serengeti in time for an evening safari, dinner and overnight at the Chaka Camp.
Day 6 & 7: Serengeti National Park
This day is spent exploring the massive park. The famous Serengeti National Park, home of the Great Migration. The game drive is spectacular as you drive up the crater highlands, stopping at the rim. Continuing on, spreading out is the vast Serengeti. Serengeti means “endless plains” in Kiswahili and this 6,900 sq. mile (18,000 sq. km) park is inhabited by more than 2 million large animals including more than a million wildebeest, hundreds of thousands of plains zebras, and Thomson’s gazelles, large predators including lions, cheetahs and hyenas. Many smaller animals like rock hyrax or monkeys also inhabit the area along with nearly 500 species of birds. Possibility to visit Olduvai Gorge meals and overnight at Chaka camp.
Day 8: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Conservation area
Early morning safari before breakfast, to spot the animals when they are more active and also to have a fantastic sunrise in front of you. After the game drive, return to the camp for brunch, followed by a transfer to Ngorongoro. With walls 2,000 ft high and a crater floor that spreads for 102 sq. miles, the crater is a virtual Noah’s Ark, inhabited by almost every species of wildlife indigenous to East Africa including the rare black rhino. In fact, the crater has the greatest concentration of wildlife on the planet. It contains a river, several swamps, from the top, looks like steam, full of flamingoes, forest and open plains. The large bull elephants that reside here have extremely large tusks, due to the rich mineral content of the volcanic soil and its grasses. Possibility for an afternoon walking safari in Ngorongoro highlands. Meals and accommodation at Ngorongoro Crater Camp.
Day 9: Ngorongoro Crater – Manyara
After an early breakfast descend down to the crater floor for a day of wildlife viewing in one of the most incredible places on Earth. After a stop for a picnic lunch near the hippo lake, and more wildlife viewing in the afternoon, drive up the steep road out of the crater and transfer to Manyara which is a small park at the base of the Rift Valley escarpment. Its groundwater forest offers a nice change of scenery from the more savannah-dominated parks. Lake Manyara is known for tree-climbing lions,. Elephant are prolific and are also part of the main attraction. Transfer to the hotel for dinner and overnight at Gibbs Farm Hotel.
Day 10: Lake Manyara – Amboseli
Transfer after an early breakfast to Namanga border and go through the immigration and drive back to Kenya’s Amboseli National park to arrive at the foot of the Africa’s highest free standing mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro in time for an evening safari , the Amboseli National Parks is one of Kenya’s most popular parks. The name “Amboseli” comes from a Maasai word meaning “salty dust”, and it is one of the best places in Africa to view large herds of elephants up close. Nature lovers can explore five different habitats here ranging from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli, wetlands with sulphur springs, the savannah and woodlands. They can also visit the local Maasai community who live around the park and experience their authentic culture. Animals here include Lions, Cheetahs, Zebras, Gazelles, Giraffes, Cape Buffalos among others. Full Board accommodation at Kibo safari camp
Day 11: Amboseli National Park
This day is spent exploring the park with an early morning safari at 0630 hours with a chance to see the big cats such as Lions and Cheetahs when they are more active and also get a chance to see the sun rising over the peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro, return back to the camp for breakfast and spend the hot hours of the day enjoying the hotel facilities such as swimming pool, this is also a good time to visit the local Masai tribe to experience their culture, lunch will be served in the hotel. Enjoy an evening safari from 1600 hours with chances to see the sun setting behind the gentle giants – the Elephants that are very common in Amboseli National Park. Dinner and overnight at Kibo Safari Camp.
Day 11: Amboseli National Park – Nairobi
0630 hours Enjoy your last morning game drive with a chance to see the sunrise and see large herds of Elephants as the walk to the swamps where they usually spend their day feeding, drive back to the camp for breakfast and check out, drive back to Nairobi to arrive in the afternoon hours, you will be dropped off at the airport for your onward flight home or at your Nairobi residence.
